Memior
David is his name age 24, divorced parents, 3 half siblings, father never around till he was about 12, mother always with his younger siblings, basically raised by his grandparents until they past away. David who is now behind bars for his decision to use prescription drugs at a very young age. This is the story of my older brother.
At the age of three he was forced to go live with are grandparents due to the fact of the abuse that was going on in the house hold. While living with are grandparents he was allowed to do whatever he wanted, and they gave him anything he wanted. 1999 the passing of my grandfather and my grandmother diagnosed with alzheimer’s, was the year that seemed everything was falling apart more than before.
Returning of Davids father in 2000. My sister and i started to see less and less of are brother, now that his father was back in his life. From the outside it seemed as if he was happy to have his father back in his life, but the truth was he felt as if his father passed away, because he looked to are grandfather as his own father. Starting to hang out with the wrong kids who he thought where his friends. David was drinking alcohol at the age of 13. Then it quickly moved to marijuana from then on it was down hill. Everything from sniffing pills, smoking, shooting up and more. He quickly dropped out of high school after he began abusing drugs, a few months later he lost almost all his friends, no one could trust him anymore because it seemed as all he cared about was his next high. The only people that he cared about was the ones using with him including his father.
Many crys for help, many days of munipliating, many days of feeling that this will never end. In and out of rehab and jail a path that has been going on for 9 years now we all where quickly giving up. Praying this will be the last time David will see the inside of a jail cell, and the last time he will be a substance abuser.
At the age of 24 started using when he was just 14. This is the story of my brother David who is fighting for his life right now trying to battle the disease of addiction. I know there is plenty of people out there who are going threw a situation similar to my brothers or mine. The only thing that has kept my mind some what clear is speaking out and not letting everything build up inside.
